Late Dr Manibhai Desai
Dr. Manibhai Desai. Born in a humble farming family. He joined the Quit India Movement in 1942 and subsequently, dedicated his life to community development. A call from the father of the Nation to accompany him to Urlikanchan, a small village near Pune in Maharashtra resulted in his staying back to promote community health and village upliftment in the region. Manibhai was the pioneer in initiating sustainable management of natural resources for rural upliftment through the voluntary movement in India. After 50 years of committed service to grassroots development, Manibhai breathed his last November 14, 1993. The Baif family is fulfilling his mission.
